About White Dog Rural

Our Experience
Jason was raised on mixed farming enterprises in the Southern Tablelands, gaining early exposure to livestock systems and the seasonal production challenges that come with them. He completed secondary studies in agriculture before undertaking formal tertiary training in Animal Science. Following his studies, Jason spent nine years with CSIRO, contributing to science-based research and livestock performance outcomes.
After relocating to Victoria to manage commercial grazing properties, Jason applied research-driven principles to improve flock productivity, animal health, and operational efficiency. White Dog Rural Livestock Services now works with producers to optimise flock performance, implement practical management strategies, and reduce labour inputs through informed system design and on-ground experience.

Meet Our Experts

Jason Byron
Founder of WDR in 2019, Jason applies 35 years of science-based and practical knowledge to his craft. His expertise has helped countless commercial producers and private sheep owners to optimise the animals' health and reduce labour costs for their clients. Additionally, he is a provisionally accredited foot rot inspector under the NSW Veterinary Practice Regulation 2013, and is permitted to deliver recognised foot rot eradication programs for the NSW Department of Primary Industries.

Sally Michell
Sally has been working with WDR since 2022, but before becoming a livestock contractor, Sally spent nearly 30 years in the healthcare sector. She has always taken an interest in livestock, particularly dairy cattle, and has worked on multiple dairy farms over the years. Her background shaped the way she works. Sally is steady, organised and hands-on. Her role at WDR is handling livestock as they come through the machines, accurately counting sheep, and she is in charge of liaising directly with clients to make sure operations run smoothly. She is reliable, practical and treats any job as if it were her own livestock.

Our Working Dogs
Calm, skilled, and highly trusted, they help us handle stock efficiently, making every job safer and smoother for both sheep and people. Their reliability and instinct are key to the quality of work we deliver.
